The Penumbra Incident is a dark electronic music project exploring the spaces between memory and forgetting, darkness and light, the human and the unknown.
Blending hypnotic downtempo grooves, ghostlike textures, and cinematic atmospheres, its music arrives like fragments of transmissions from somewhere just beyond the familiar: haunting, immersive, and faintly luminous. Each release is another signal from a place where what is lost may still be listening.
In 1993, Jason, the composer and producer behind the Penumbra Incident, discovered a tape on the used rack at the local music store.
The title of one of the tracks, "Mysterious Semblance at the Strand of Nightmares", intrigued him so much he had to buy it. That album, Phaedra by Tangerine Dream, kindled a love for electronic music that has lasted over 30 years.
